Step 10: WorldBorder
World Border is a plugin that has two purposes. The first is the obvious, you can set a border around the world that won't let people through, useful to keep players contained in a certain small area in a creative world. The second option which I use it for is to set a border, and then force the server to render all the chunks inside of it. This then lets me use one of the mappers tools available from here. So when I'm setting up a new server, I am mostly looking to make sure I didn't get a spawn in the middle of a huge ocean, its not very fun when that happens. Its also nice if I'm looking to have specific biomes near by but that takes a lot of luck and time as the map plotting tools can take a while.
Worldborder is a tool just for admins, you'll never have a reason to allow normal players to use it, so luckily no permission changes are needed. Simply login and type the command "/wb" to see the commands available. You should follow the steps in order to set a world border and fill it:
1. Choose the shape of you border, Square, Round, Ellipse, or Rectangle with the command "/wb shape (shape you want)"
2. Decide if your border will be centered on the Spawn, an X,Z coordinate, or where you are standing with your character. I suggest the spawn, which you can move where ever you want before you set the world border by using the "/setspawn" command.
3. Determine the size you want, 200 blocks is pretty much the area right around the spawn, very small and its likely possible to see all sides of the border from the spawn. 500 blocks is likely a single large biome, nice for 2-4 players. I've generally gone with around 1500-2000 blocks to start, this should should the biome you're in, and all neighboring biomes.
So the simplest command to create a square world border that is 1500 blocks in radius from the spawn is this:
"/wb shape square"
"/wb (worldname) set 1500 spawn"
Then to make it generate all the chunks inside that world border we would do, note the value 1000 is for how fast it will try to do this, if the server is already in use and people are playing set that to 20 or else they will get disconnected or experience high latency :
"/wb (worldname) fill 1000 50 true"
Now sit back and wait, this can take a very long time if you used a large radius value and have a slow processor. It will give you a % complete value every so often to let you know its still working.
Once you're done if you wish to remove the world border just use the following command:
"/wb (worldname) clear"
or
"/wb clear all" if you want to remove all world boarders from all worlds on your server.
